CompVerdict ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable laws.

1. Who we are

CompVerdict is a free salary offer benchmarking tool at compverdict.com. For privacy questions, contact us at hello@compverdict.com.

2. Data we collect

We collect the following categories of data:

Email address (newsletter)

If you subscribe via the footer form, we collect your email address to send occasional salary insights and offer tips. This is processed by Netlify Forms. You are never required to provide your email to use the tool.

Email address (contact form)

If you contact us via the contact page, we receive your name, email address, and message. This is processed by Netlify Forms and used solely to respond to your query.

Offer results (optional)

If you choose to save or share your offer verdict, anonymised result data (role, city, verdict, no salary figures) may be submitted via Netlify Forms. Your email is only included if you provide it.

Usage data (with consent)

If you accept cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised usage data: pages visited, time on site, general geographic region (country level), and custom events such as "verdict run". No personal identifiers are attached to these events.

The salary and offer data you enter into the CompVerdict tool is processed entirely in your browser. It is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Google Analytics cookies are only set if you click Accept on the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies for this site. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking.

4. How we use your data

  • Email (newsletter): to send occasional salary market insights. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
  • Email (contact): solely to respond to your message.
  • Analytics: to understand which roles, cities, and features are most useful, and to improve the product.
  • No data is sold to third parties.
  • No data is used for advertising targeting or profiling.

5. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

  • Consent — for Google Analytics cookies and newsletter sign-up.
  • Legitimate interests — for responding to contact form submissions.

6. Data retention

  • Email addresses (newsletter) are retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact form messages are retained for up to 12 months.
  • Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months (the minimum GA4 setting), then automatically deleted.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR and applicable laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability (where applicable)
  • Withdraw consent at any time (without affecting prior processing)
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

CompVerdict is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
